Soleus™ is a complete mobile handset software platform built on Microsoft® Windows® Embedded CE with pre-certified telephony and a large application portfolio. Soleus™ offers full integration from hardware to software, for faster market delivery of powerful, feature-rich mobile devices.

Intrinsyc has deep experience with Windows CE and Windows Mobile and in managing the complexity of integrating telephony and data applications. As such, Soleus™ comes pre-integrated with all the telephony essentials, delivering cost and time savings for manufacturers and supporting multiple network connections for end-users. Soleus™ version 1.0 delivers GSM pre-certification and a comprehensive suite of built-in consumer phone applications including alarm, calculator, calendar, call history, camera, contacts, dialer, media player, phone settings, SMS, and themes that can be quickly tailored to reduce time to market.

SOLEUS™ UI FRAMEWORK

As a fully-customizable offering, Soleus™ includes the Soleus™ UI Framework and the Soleus™ UX Designer plug-in for Microsoft® Visual Studio®. The Soleus™ UI Framework provides a set of common mobile phone controls for application development and separates the application logic from the application UI layer to enable rapid changes of the user interface, resulting in efficient development of differentiated user interfaces.

This powerful UI Framework gives wireless operators and device manufacturers unique control over the customization and branding of the mobile handset experience. The Soleus™ UI Framework can support unlimited customer experiences from one platform while simultaneously expanding your device portfolio.

POWERFUL SUITE OF MOBILE COMMUNICATION CONTROLS

The Soleus™ UI Framework includes a rich set of mobile device controls for use by application developers to rapidly create their applications. Some examples include: animation, list boxes, buttons, date/time, calendar, and input fields. New controls can be added to support device-based or network based services and applications such as instant messaging and streaming stock quotes or news. In order to assist with UI development, the Soleus™ SDK also includes an emulator that is fully integrated with Microsoft® Visual Studio®. Using this emulator, application developers can run native ARM applications on Microsoft® Windows® XP development systems to streamline the UI development and testing process.

DEEP CUSTOMIZATION OF USER EXPERIENCE

In addition to customizing familiar elements of the device user interface (status indicators, colors, fonts, wallpaper, etc), the Soleus™ UI Framework allows full customization of the user experience, including: the list of available applications and services on the device (including their location on the device), the overall look and feel of the device UI, the appearance of individual applications, as well as the creation of new UI elements.

DEVELOPMENT TOOLS

Soleus™ Adaptation Kit (AK)
The Soleus™ Adaptation Kit includes all of the necessary components to configure and/or create a customized phone for an applicable board support package within Microsoft® Platform Builder®.

Soleus™ Software Development Kit (SDK)
The Soleus™ SDK provides the necessary libraries, header files, and additional tools to develop applications in Microsoft® Visual Studio®, targeted to run on a specific phone model created using the Adaptation Kit. The SDK also allows you to work with the Soleus™ UX Designer out of the box, without having to create an SDK from a custom Soleus OS design.

Soleus™ UX Designer (UXD)
The Soleus™ UX Designer provides the ability to develop, extend and/or re-configure the look and feel of your phone applications. The tool is fully integrated into the Microsoft® Visual Studio® IDE, and provides a wizard for generating a Soleus™ phone template project in Visual Studio.

Soleus™ Quality Assurance Test Kit (QATK)
The Soleus™ Quality Assurance Test Kit provides the components, libraries, and tools to verify basic functionality via automated testing of the Soleus™ platform and the critical Windows CE Board Support Package components it requires.

APPLICATIONS

At the heart of the Soleus™ platform is a rich, capable set of mobile device applications. Built on top of the Soleus™ UI Framework, the user experience for these applications can be quickly tailored to support specific market segments, end-user demographics, or other market requirements. A rich mobile device Application Programming Interface (API) enables easy integration between applications and access to common mobile phone services. Additionally, Soleus™ is an open platform, which means integrating new applications is easy—especially for converged device designs that include several new applications such as GPS, mobile TV, or music applications.

Intrinsyc has partnered with select third-party independent software vendors (ISVs) who have built applications in several key categories. Through its ISV partners, Intrinsyc provides a number of pre-integrated applications to its customers. Predictive text, email, WAP Browser, MMS, games, handwriting recognition, voice dialing and instant messaging are among the growing list of applications provided.
